Peter Varga (1957-2013)
In 2013, our friend, the heart and soul of a sports fisherman, has unexpectedly passed away. He was a longtime successful representative in the field of casting. He started in the Czechoslovakian Youth Championships in Gottwald in 1972 and in 1975 he represented us at the Czechoslovak Championships in Prague and later in the federal league as a member of a Nove Zámky - team. After 1993, he presented excellent results especially at the Arenberg event at championships in Slovakia as well as the classic technique of skish load. In the category of seniors and veterans he first represented Slovakia at the World Championships in Nymburk in 2007, where six years later at SaVWCH he won his first and, unfortunately, the last bronze medal. In the society he always excelled in a good mood, with characteristic laughter and humor, which we all miss.
Otokar Mészáros (1931-2016)
At the age of 85, Otokar Mészáros left the family of sports fishermen an enthusiastic and tireless promoter of casting and fishing for fish in the Slovak Fishing Union. The pioneering work in the field of sport began with the young sport fishermen from the fishing organization in Nové Zámky at the District House of Pioneers and Youth. His fosterlings soon became masters of national youth competitions. In addition to daily work with youth, "Otobacsi, Brasil, Otík", as he was familiarly called, flashed his way into the representative of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic, where he successfully represented and later took the coaching post. In 1974 he was awarded the title of champion of the sport for successful representation in fishing. His charisma and the results of life-long work in the field of sport left indescribable traces in the history of the sports fishing in Nové Zámky and Czechoslovakia.
